Desart is the Association of
Central Australian Aboriginal
Art and Craft Centres. Desart
represents Art Centres which
support these objectives:

• Authenticity of
  artworks
• 100% returns to
  Aboriginal
  people and their
  organisations
• Promotion of
  professional art
  practice and
  ethical dealings
  with artists

• To work together
  to create stronger Indigenous artists, stronger Aboriginal-owned Art Centres and stronger, sustainable industry practice
• To support Indigenous artists in Central Australia develop the skills, knowledge and ability to make informed and meaningful decisions
• To create an Indigenous arts industry that offers the potential for Indigenous people to improve their quality of life and achieve their aspirations
• To build an Indigenous arts industry that has great business practice and offers pathways for all the different Aboriginal-owned Art Centres to grow

• Communication and consultation with Aboriginal owned Art Centres
• Advocacy and promotion for Art Centres
• Resourcing, support and assistance to Art Centres including training in governance, arts practice and professional development
• Providing liaison, networking and referral services to its member Art Centres
• Providing a point of contact with Art Centres for Governments, the private and public sector and other Aboriginal organisations

Desart's strategic direction is to:

• Increase resources to Central Australian Aboriginal artists and their Art Centres
• Improve communication and information sharing and increase our advisory services across the Desart Art Centres
• Strengthen advocacy for Aboriginal owned Art Centres and progress an Indigenous arts industry that is ethical, professional and productive
• Ensure Desart remains an effective and sustainable enterprise
