Desart is the Association of Central Australian
Aboriginal Art and Craft Centres.

Art Centres are community-based enterprises which provide economic, social and cultural benefits.

Desart member Art Centres are owned and managed by Aboriginal people in their own communities.

Desart is a government-funded, not-for-profit Aboriginal Corporation.

Desart works to:

  • Build respect for Aboriginal art and culture
  • Respond to the aspirations and needs of artists and artworkers across Central Australia
  • Strengthen the role of Art Centres as places for cultural maintenance and cultural development
  • Promote best practice in Aboriginal-owned Art Centres

New collaboration between Tjala Arts and Tjanpi Desert Weavers
Watiku tjukurpa pulka mulapa, munu minymaku tjanpi; exhibition tjungu kupu/ The men’s stories are very strong with the women’s tjanpi is a collaborative exhibition between Tjala Arts in Amata, SA and Tjanpi Desert Weavers.

The exhibition is running at Alcaston Gallery in Fitzroy, Melbourne until Saturday 10th July.

New skills and networking at the Barkly Artists' Camp
The Barkly Artists' camp, organised by Desart and Barkly Regional Arts, brought together artists from the Barkly region for a week of workshops and meetings, culminating in a art market in Tennant Creek.
