Desert Mob 2010

Desert Mob is the premier Indigenous art event for this region showcasing work from artists across the Desart membership. This year Desert Mob marks its 20th birthday with a special Friday night exhibition opening and celebrations.

Desert Mob includes the Symposium, the MarketPlace and the prestigious Desert Mob  exhibition representing new works from Art Centres throughout Central Australia. Desert Mob is presented by the Araluen Arts Centre in partnership with Desart.

Friday 10 September

Desert Mob Symposium: Stories from the Artists, 9-3pm, Araluen Theatre

The Desert Mob Symposium: Stories from the Artists celebrates the artists behind the art on display at Desert Mob and the place of community, country and culture in the artists’ lives and works.

Together with interstate guests, artists from Art Centres across Central Australia present stories, images and films about their country and their art under the theme ‘In Country’.

You will hear through their own words and see through their own films and images the artists’ perspectives on art and art making in community, country and culture.
